Disable italics
Doom themes with italics disabled but enabled for org-mode
I dislike italics for source code with my guts. Not for comments, not for interfaces or methods anything else. NO ITALICS in source code.
But for Org-mode, where we have bold, italic, etc., then I keep italics enabled otherwise the /italic/ markup doesn’t italicize the fonts, while others like bold does, so it feels wrong.
Here’s one way to achieve “no italics for all major modes except for Org”.
First, configure the theme to disable italics:
(use-package doom-themes
:ensure t
:custom
(doom-themes-enable-italic nil)
:config
(load-theme 'doom-gruvbox-light t))
Then, use the org-mode-hook to add italics back just for org-mode:
(add-hook 'org-mode-hook
(lambda ()
(set-face-attribute 'italic nil :slant 'italic)))
